Merry Christmas! We had the most amazing weekend with family and friends. Ryan is still exhausted with all of his presents! He met Santa several times and even was able to say Santa’s name when he saw him. Ryan made reindeer food and sprinkled it in the yard on Christmas Eve. He woke up to a stocking with Elmo slippers and a train table that Santa left in the basement. We have only had it out for a little more than 24 hours and it already has about 6 hours of play time!
Christmas Day greeted us with nice weather, for being Minnesota. After nap time and hugs and kissed goodbye to Grandma, Rick, Uncle Josh, Chelsy and Tanner, we headed to the park. Slides, monkey bars, and climbing on Christmas Day and the temps near 50 degrees…so nice!!
Ryan, aka Mr. Daredevil, spent the afternoon cruising around the park. My heart dropped about 13 times. Ryan, seriously have no fear! He loved every slide, every monkey bar (with Mom and Dad’s help) and every nook and cranny he could squeeze his little body into! We love seeing him experience the world. I miss the days of him being swaddled and in my arms, but I really love hearing him squeal in delight of the big slide he just went down!
He had his 18 month checkup 2 weeks ago and is healthy as can be. He is in the 50th percentile of everything and handled his shots like a champ. His favorite part – the new activity board on the wall in the clinic. He couldn’t stop playing with it!
Ryan has been very busy this summer! He loves being outside! He has figured out how to open the screen doors and climb down steps. He gets very sad when it’s time to come in. His outdoor favorites are his sandbox, little buggy car and sliding down his climbing structure. A big change from last summer is swinging. He could swing for hours then. Now, he won’t go near his swing!
On Wednesday, I start a week long break from work and lots of one on one time with Ryan. We have plans for story time at the library, MN Zoo, Downtown Farmers Market and our first ever family vacation to Craguns Resort in Brainerd MN.
Ryan is talking up a storm! His new favorite words are bye bye, truck and car. He also just mastered his neighborhood friend’s name – Lilah! It’s so cute when he says Lilah. He loves going to school each morning and playing with his friends.
At 365 days old, Ryan is a pretty average kid. Per Dr. Noll –
21.4lbs (27th percentile)
29 3/4 inches tall (52nd percentile)
and his head circumference is 18.5 inches (70th percentile)
He also has said good by to bottles and formula/breastmilk. He is a 100% cows’ milk drinker from a big boy sippy cup! He has recently found his tongue a is constantly sticking it out and he continues to take a few steps on his own. Any day now, we should have a walker on our hands!
Ryan had a great first birthday! He had a blueberry muffin for breakfast; took a long morning nap and then we headed to the Mall of America to the aquarium. We saw lots of fish and then had a bit to eat. Ryan had a chicken burrito and rice. There must have been about 1000 grains of rice on the floor! I always judge Ryan’s experience based on the mess. The bigger the mess = the more fun! He was napping on the car ride home until we got to the grocery store. He couldn’t resist the free cookie so he forced himself awake We got home and got to meet our brand new neighbor friend, Elise. She is just 6 days old! The night was capped with pizza and a bit of ice cream. Next weekend is his big friends and family party so this weekend was a good warm up!
Mr. Little Lewis is 11 months old today! He has changed so much in 11 short months. He is all over the place and quite the handful. He has never crawled, but scoots with intense passion! Lots of people tell us that he will start to walk when he realizes he can carry stuff – something crawling babies can’t. Well, he has no problem carrying stuff. His favorite…..the Swifter! He loves it!
He now has 7 teeth. He loves faux walking while we hold his hands. At least once a week, you can find us at the local Target walking around. Lots of room and he loves getting the attention of those that walk by him. Daycare is great! He moved into the “Big Bear” room. He is the youngest in his room, but loves hanging out with his friends!
He’s quite the eater too. We haven’t found anything that he doesn’t like. He loves self-feeding and feeding the dog. Th dog has officially gone on a diet thanks to Ryan. In one month, he will be smashing his very first birthday cake and I will be one proud momma!
We finally have teeth!!! Two of them to be exact! Ryan has been putting them to good use too! He started eating people food and loves it! In the last two months:
10/13 – said “Hi”
10/16 – teeth finally came through
10/20 – started solid food.
Especially loves apples, noodles, cheese and cheerios
Also saying “oh oh” and “pup”
Pulling himself up on people and furniture

Successfully battled and won two round with ear infections
